What is the legal status of cannabis in Oregon?
Oregon passed Senate Bill 1057 earlier this year, which updated their already-liberal medical cannabis laws. Back in 1998, Oregon became the second state to allow patients with certain debilitating medical conditions to possess and use cannabis on the recommendation of a doctor. Patients with the below delineated conditions may possess up to 24 ounces of dried Marijuana plant leaves or flowers and 6 mature plants. Extracts and other products are also allowed.
In addition, CBD oil derived from industrial hemp is 100% legal in all 50 states, as this plant never has more than trace amounts of THC, but is generally rich in CBD and other cannabinoids.
Eligible Conditions:
- Alzheimer’s disease
- cachexia
- cancer
- chronic pain
- glaucoma
- HIV/AIDS
- persistent muscle spasms including multiple sclerosis
- severe nausea
- seizures including epilepsy
