What is the legal status of CBD in Maryland?
As soon as a set of bills passes, residents of Maryland may possess up to one ounce of dried flowers or some derivative thereof. This use is provided that they have proof that a physician or some other practicing medical professional, such as a nurse practitioner or podiatrist, recommended their use of Marijuana. There is a list of conditions in the laws that designate what is treatable with medical cannabis, copied below.
More explicit laws are in the pipes, but permitted use of Marijuana would include any and all CBD-dominant products. CBD oil derived from industrial hemp is 100% legal in all 50 states, as this plant never has more than trace amounts of THC, but is generally rich in CBD and other cannabinoids.
Eligible Conditions:
- “A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition that results in a patient being admitted into hospice or receiving palliative care”, or;
- “a chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition or the treatment [thereof] that produces”:
- anorexia, or wasting syndrome
- cachexia
- severe or persistent muscle spasms
- severe nausea
- severe or chronic pain
- seizures
