What is the legal status of Cannabis in Ohio?

On September 8, 2016, Ohio adopted house bill 523, legalizing medical marijuana.  The laws in Ohio are still being developed, but as of now patients with any of the below delineated conditions may possess up to a 90-day supply of oil, tincture, plant material, edibles or patches.  Smoking of any Cannabis-based substance is forbidden. The regulations must be finalized by September of 2017, and the program must be fully functional by September of 2018.  We will update this as needed.

CBD oil derived from Industrial Hemp, is 100% legal in all 50 states, as this plant never has more than trace amounts of THC, but is generally rich in CBD and other cannabinoids.

Eligible Conditions:

  • HIV/AIDS,
  • Alzheimer’s disease,
  • ALS,
  • cancer,
  • chronic traumatic encephalopathy,
  • Crohn’s disease,
  • epilepsy or another seizure disorder,
  • fibromyalgia,
  • glaucoma,
  • hepatitis C,
  • inflammatory bowel disease,
  • multiple sclerosis,
  • chronic or severe pain,
  • Parkinson’s disease,
  • PTSD,
  • sickle cell anemia,
  • spinal cord disease or injury,
  • Tourette’s syndrome,
  • traumatic brain injury,
  • and ulcerative colitis
